This is why I used the term “heist” to describe what occurred here. For the record, I don’t think this is worth $80,000 or more. But given the relatively rare color, the low-miles and the condition of the vehicle, I can easily see someone paying $65,000 or even $70k for this Camaro.
Speaking of that rare color, it’s not actually super rare overall, but as pointed out by the seller, Chevrolet only made 3,045 Camaro ZL1s in 2017, and from those, just 150 units were finished in Garnet Red Tintcoat, which is a better-looking shade of red than Red Hot, in my opinion.
Aside from the colorway, this ZL1 also comes with HID headlights, LED taillights, plus a set of 20” split 10-spoke alloy wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires and Brembo calipers at the front.
Meanwhile, interior highlights include the Jet Black and Adrenaline Red leather seats (front seats also heated and ventilated), a Bose sound system, head-up display, keyless entry, automatic climate control, cruise control, a performance data and video recorder, and a flat-bottom steering wheel.
Since this is a 10-speed auto ZL1, it’s going to be much easier to live with as a daily driver – or at least it will be easier to drive more frequently than you would a ZL1 with a six-speed manual. The latter probably makes for a better collectible, but that doesn’t change the fact that this particular car could have easily brought in more money at auction than it did.
Show me a nicer ZL1
Always a pleasure doing that. Here is a 2022 Camaro ZL1 1LE in Wild Cherry Tintcoat, which sold for $78,335 last year. It only had 21 miles on the clock, and it was also a 10-speed automatic variant. It’s just that tiny bit more special, don’t you think?
