Another slam-dunk in a long line of our collector-owned, fantastic second-generation F-bodies, this 1977 Chevrolet Camaro RS/LT combines outrageous good looks with an amazing original interior and plenty of power from a fresh crate engine. It’s not subtle, but sometimes it pays to get noticed.
The car shows just 19,479 miles and we have no reason to believe that’s anything other than accurate given the condition of the car and the interior. It was repainted back in 2004 and still looks stunning, with bright red paint that seems to glow in the dark. Z/28 decals and badges were added at that time, but this is definitely a real RS/Type LT Camaro. The bodywork is obviously in excellent condition with show-quality workmanship throughout, and there aren’t many nicer ’70s General Motors cars in any of our showrooms. The bumpers, which were painted to match the body, the chin spoiler, and the ducktail spoiler on the back are all cool reminders of the 1970s when flash was more important than performance. And as you’d imagine, everything is in absolutely excellent condition, befitting a car with such low mileage.
The matching red interior is entirely original and backs up the low-mileage claims. Cloth buckets look like they’re still sitting in the showroom without even the most minor signs of use and the back seat is entirely untouched. The same goes for the carpets and door panels, which are almost perfectly preserved thanks to a lifetime in proper storage. The car is loaded with options including a center console, factory A/C (now with modern components under the hood), tilt steering column, and an AM/FM stereo radio, and everything works as it should. A full complement of gauges are in the wrap-around instrument panel, which is faced in light-colored faux wood that helps break up all the red inside this Camaro. Aftermarket floor mats have been protecting the floors for years and even the trunk is still factory-spec, with an original mat and a space-saver spare with inflator bottle that’s never been used.
