So, you know that I have always been a car lover, but you really don’t know how I came into possession of my Camaro. In the summer of ’09, my faithful Pontiac GM (also a blue car, do you see a theme?) was in the tenth year of it’s life. Unfortunately it decided that it was close to needing a rest. After having to replace two out of the four cylinders in the engine (cars don’t run so well like that!) and finding out new problems were soon to follow, it was determined that it was time to look into getting a new car. Now, I suppose you could say that I have always had cars that were nice, but never anything that had the PRESENCE of the Camaro. And let’s face it, those cars have presence, or what my friends and I like to refer to as BAM! (Look at that car….BAM!) Being an enthusiast of cars, and with the recent news of the new body style of the Camaro hailing back to it’s glory days, it wasn’t a hard choice to want that as my new car. It also didn’t hurt that my husband had always wanted one too! After doing some research on finding the best deals, “Cammy” replaced my Grand Am.
The next step was finding a car club. Once again my husband had influence in this because he always wanted to be in one. Within a few weeks, we became members of West Houston Muscle and H-Town Camaro Club. I really enjoy both clubs and it gives us the opportunity to be involved in lots of fun events. However, a new situation arose…Cammy was a great car straight off the assembly line, I actually got her with all of the things I wanted minus her stripes. I wanted silver stripes on her blue metallic body, because I love that color combo, so we already had Barnett Pinstriping do her custom bumper to bumper silver metallic rally stripes with pinstripes on either side. BUT being at those car shows and seeing all those Camaros with after market modifications, as well as finding out how many options are out there for after market mods….I am sure you get the picture. I wanted more, and once again it didn’t hurt that my husband wanted Cammy to have “more power” too! Obviously, Cammy got some new toys. (Refer to my first post for the mod list.)
What have I learned so far? Camaros are cool cars, and you want to add things to them to make them even cooler! (Time to save up more money for what is next!)
Oh, and car clubs are a great way to meet other enthusiasts who will become good friends and will encourage your love for your car.
