How do you celebrate your 20th anniversary? If you’re Hennessey Performance– the company that made a name in hopped-up Dodge Vipers and now tunes virtually anything on four wheels – the answer is with a batch of limited-edition, supercharged Chevrolet Camaros.
The 20th-anniversary HPE650 Camaros are fitted with a supercharged version of the 6.2-liter V-8 engine, allowing the mill to produce a whopping 655 hp. Hennessey says that’s enough power to rocket the car to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 11.7 seconds at 122 mph. Those numbers are possible thanks to a TVS supercharger, a less-restrictive exhaust, larger fuel injectors, a reprogrammed engine computer, new camshafts, and revised cylinder heads.
