It seems there is a growing number of youth who aren’t caring much about getting a driver’s license. That concept is odd to me. Getting a licence used to be a rite of passage, at least I recall it being one. It brought us together because we had our own transportation; it gave us access to jobs, opportunities and the glories of the open road. It meant adulthood (whoa, I can drive now!) , and freedom. What is happening, I wonder? Another interesting fact is that this new phenomena is occurring all over the world, and not just in America. I wonder why the drop? Are they going out of their way to not get the licence? Or are they just occupied with other things, like the Internet? After all, the freedom to go see your friends isn’t as appealing, I suppose, if you are already chatting with them online. I feel differently. don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the Internet. I like being able to connect with people online. But I love getting together with people, face to face. And I still love to get out and do things. I love to have that freedom of driving somewhere. And I definitely love taking the Camaro out and getting on the open road to go somewhere, to hang out, to enjoy others’ company. The drop in youth wanting to drive baffles me. Maybe I won’t ever understand it. Of course, you can still find some younger people who agree and want their driver’s licence, and who love cars. good for them. I, for one, am going to make sure my child grows up loving cars and understanding what having a car means. She already goes to cars shows with us, and she is one one year old. I think people are missing out if they don’t appreciate not just the practicality of a car, but also the symbolism of one. But then again, I’m a car person, so of course I like people to appreciate them!
Have a super day, CamaroNews friends!
