Power on the SS 350 came from a 350ci V8 engine fitted with a four-barrel carburetor and sporting dual exhausts. The output was impressive at 295 horsepower. Chevrolet used special badging on the car, including SS 350 emblems on the steering wheel and the fuel filler cap.
The specimen in these photos is believed to be a real-deal SS 350 Camaro that spent only four years on the road before being moved to storage for almost eternity. The car was last registered in Colorado in 1971, and eBay seller lb60 says they found it in a “guy’s hoard collection a few years ago.”
It’s been sitting for 53 years, and it still sports many original parts, including the 1967 plug wires. The engine in the car – the original 350ci unit rated at 295 horsepower – is the factory V8, and despite everybody’s expectations, it’s not locked up. The owner says they changed the oil, poured in fresh gas, and the engine started. However, the car needs an obvious mechanical overhaul, with the seller explaining that the water pump is seized. The transmission is the original Powerglide unit.
The Camaro has already been invaded by rust, which makes sense, considering it spent five decades in the same spot. The hood has small rust holes, and the front passenger door has already been replaced but still exhibits some dents. The undercarriage is “amazing clean,” with the trunk also showing minor surface rust despite the many years of sitting.
This Camaro SS 350 won’t sell cheaply, and the owner says they were already offered $18,000. However, the car landed on eBay for auction, and considering a reserve is in place, the bidding must increase significantly. The top offer is $9,600, and the Buy It Now price is set at $19,900. I expect the reserve to be close to the BIN price, but if you want the car, you should contact the owner to discuss all the details.
The digital fight will end in five days, so you have enough time to arrange an in-person inspection. The Camaro is parked in Peru, Indiana, and you’ll need transportation to take it home, considering its condition. The odometer indicated 47K miles, and the owner believes this is the actual mileage. However, miles are exempt due to the year.
