CamaroNews – The 2016 COPO Camaro was unveiled on stage at SEMA, and out of all the concepts Chevrolet put on stage, this one outright stole the show. Aimed at Stock and Super Stock classes, along with NMCA’s new Factory Super Car class, the 2016 COPO Camaro is looking to take down its 2016 Mustang Cobra Jet and 2016 Challenger Drag Pak rivals this season.
We’re here on site in Bradenton, Florida at Bradenton Motorsports Park as Chevrolet Performance engineers test the new 2016 COPO Camaro. Saying these guys have the dream job would be an understatement – this is a must-see event! But since it’s private, we’ve opted to bring you some behind the scenes photos of the new beast in action.
If you’ve been following along on The BLOCK, you would have seen some of our coverage of the new COPO. The first ever sixth-gen COPO was unveiled at SEMA last year, and by none other than famed drag racer John Force’s daughter, Courtney Force. This modern-looking machine infuses legendary COPO performance with the new, modern design of the 2016 Camaro. The SEMA version held a personalized look, created by the 27-year old NHRA Funny Car driver Courtney Force, and will be auctioned off at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale with the proceeds going to the United Way. The COPO program (part number: 20169560) returns for 2016. Register for a chance to be one of only 69 to purchase a 2016 COPO by clicking here(link is external).
The fifth-generation COPO Camaro concept was first shown at the 2011 SEMA Show, where an overwhelming response inspired the decision for a limited, special-edition production run. Its success continued in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Now, for 2016, new COPO Camaros will be headed to the drag strip to carry on the tradition and showcase the modern design and tighter curves of the sixth-generation Camaro.
