You know how when you want to do something before you die it is referred to as a bucket list? I was perusing the Internet this morning and found an Autoblog with a list called “The List: 1001 car things to do before you die”, aka, the car lover’s bucket list. I was intrigued. I just had to click on the link. The list included topics that ranged from learn how to drift and work as a professional stunt driver, to photographing your car like a pro and driving 200 mph. In fact, if you think about it, 1001 things is quite a lengthy list of options. And it got me thinking…what sort of things do I want to do with my car besides what I’ve already done, and what else do I want to do as a car enthusiast? I can tell you I have enjoyed entering my Camaro into car shows and winning a few awards. I love showing her off and I am proud of my car and the mods that have been added to her. I can also tell you I enjoy going to meets and hanging out with other car lovers. Oh, and I can also tell you that I have attended a major car auction (number 41 on the list) and seriously enjoyed the experience of Mecum. (I was so wishing to have deeper pocketbooks while I was there!) I’ve also been to a car museum (number 60 on the list). Very fun indeed.
So what would be on my car lover’s bucket list? I know I definitely want to learn to photograph my car like a pro, and I think I’m getting pretty good at it. It helps to be able to attend lots of shows and get lots of practice taking photos of cars, which I get to do. Also, I definitely would love, love, love to attend SEMA one day, and see all the premier automotive specialty products. The show draws the industry’s brightest minds and hottest products to one place, and I want to go there! If you know anything about SEMA, you know it isn’t open to the general public. And finally, I want to restore a classic car. A beauty that I could work on with my own two hands. My uncles used to restore cars with my Grandfather, and I’ve always loved doing projects. I like the ownership and pride that goes into doing something myself.
I guess I could pull a few from the list for even loftier goals. Maybe one day I could learn how to drift (number 360), drive a tank (number 433), work as a professional stunt driver (number 180) and go ice racing (number 32). I suppose I need to get busy if I’m going to accomplish all this! And my list doesn’t even include 1001 things!
Have a super day! Oh, and by the way, what is on your list?
