I have recently discovered that there is a Collector Car Appreciation Day. Wait a minute…did I read that correctly? There is a Collector Car Appreciation Day?!? How come nobody told me this before? I know there are lots of days to celebrate things now. I’m not just talking about the big holidays everyone knows, but even things you might not think of. Holidays to celebrate wonderful, crazy different things, for example: Talk like a pirate day (Argghhh!), Plaidurday (wear your plaid), World Zombie Day (run!!!), and Star Wars Day (May the Forth be with you!). But Collector Car Day? I needed to know about this. This is awesome.
Since I apparently already missed it this year, I’ll have to tell you it’s background and we can all await it’s arrival for next year. Maybe some of y’all knew about it already. (You should have told me! 😉
The United States Senate actually passed a resolution at the request of SEMA and its Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) and Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) councils designating July 13, 2012 as “Collector Car Appreciation Day.” That means this holiday is an officially recognized one. The purpose? To celebrate and raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society. I guess the government is realizing that America has a love affair with the car and motor sports. And that the popularity of car collecting is growing. I think that is very cool.
So, I look forward to celebrating Collector Car Appreciation Day next year, in July of 2013. Who is with me? 🙂
