Ford Mustang Fans Disappointed With The 7th Generation Pony Car: “Good God That Thing Is Ugly They Copied Chevy”

The 7th generation Ford Mustang S650 has been revealed to the world from the Detroit Motor Show, but while it retains its naturally-aspirated V8 Coyote and does away with rumours of a hybrid, all-wheel drive chassis, fans of the Pony car are very disappointed with what the company has pulled out of its pocket.

The new Mustang boasts an all-new high performance variant with the most powerful Coyote motor yet. But even 500 horsepower wasn’t enough to win over fans as they took to Twitter to complain.

“It’s… worse than the last gen,” a user tweeted in response to Jalopnik’stweet on the subject.

“I’ve been wondering for the last few years where they’d go with the design since the current one is basically perfect. I guess the only way was down. Maybe they’re trying to make the Mach-E even more appealing,” another adds.

A third wrote: “Yikes, Ford Motor Company is circling the plug hole, 50 + years of design and heritage that cost a gagillion to establish, ruined. The interior is retina searingly hideous. I would rather the equivilant value in bus passes.” [sic]

Several compared the new looks of the car to the current Chevrolet Camaro, with one simply adding, “Good god that thing is ugly.”

On Ford’s official tweet, one user echoed my opinion of it being a safe move from the company:

“Very boring and tired design. Dunno why they keep pushing out the same thing over and over. In fact it’s starting to look like a 2 door charger at this point. Very underwhelming.”

And while I applauded Ford for taking a shot at a modern interior, fans haven’t taken kindly to the large dashboard-mounted screen:

“Wtf is that screen?” one user asks. “Am i suppose to connect my playstation and play on it?”

Another adds: “Only thing I am not a fan of is how the digital dash kind of protrudes on the right. I feel like they could have made it a little more seamless. Otherwise it looks great. It’s a little boxier than my 6th gen. I love the stylings of the Dark Horse. Side profile looks great.”

Once again, another fan believes Ford were “lazy” with the design:

“Another lazy attempt from Ford. Center Console and door panels are unchanged. Roof line and rear quarter unchanged. Dark Horse is just a Mach 1. Rear end is terrible. Front end is like a Mach 1 bumper with a bigger grille and Mach e headlights. Lazy lazy lazy.”
