Outgoing Mustang Outsells Camaro Two Months In A Row – Could The Refresh Be The Issue?

Even if the new generation Mustang is just around the corner, Ford’s outgoing model is still selling by the bucketload for the second straight month. In total, the bestselling sports car in the US moved 9,305 units the former month, a 21 percent increase from March 2013. Chevrolet’s Camaro and Dodge’s Challenger sold 8,624 and 4,882 units, respectively.

Ford already has a clear advantage in the annual muscle car sales race, so far totaling 19,596 units. This trend will surely continue through the rest of the year because of the heavily anticipated new generation Mustang. Expect a lot of great deals on the outgoing model right before the new one arrives in showrooms.

The Chevrolet Camaro trailed Ford’s Mustang for the second straight month with a margin of 681 cars, after posting unimpressive sales figures during the first two months of the year. Unless it brings something new to the table or a new Transformers movie comes out, it’s very possible that the Camaro will stay in second place.

Dodge is anxious to clear the lots of unsold Challengers in anticipation of the facelifted model. It will be officially unveiled two months from now on and will feature a new 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 engine with over 640 horsepower.
