As you all know, the sixth-generation Camaro isn’t in production anymore. They killed it off completely in December of last year, although you could still find new cars without having to look too hard.
Among Camaro specs, the ZL1 stands tall as being the most desirable, by far. I actually think we can call the Camaro ZL1 underrated because of how much of a beast it is in a straight line. Power comes from a supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8, producing 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Floor the throttle and you’ll hit 60 mph (97 kph) in just 3.5 seconds. If you’re hunting the quarter mile, you can cover that in 11.4 seconds at 127 mph, officially.
This particular ZL1 is sending all that grunt to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and an electronic limited-slip differential. A lot of driving enthusiasts tend to appreciate that sort of thing, especially in a car that you don’t have to daily-drive. I personally wouldn’t daily a manual muscle car, but that’s just me.
In terms of visuals, that Nitro Yellow Metallic exterior also features a sunroof, a front splitter, black hood inserts, rear spoiler, rear Park Assist, HID headlights, plus a set of Dark Graphite 20” split-spoke alloy wheels with 285/30 front and 305/30 rear Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 tires. These are some of the best-looking wheels you’ll see on any modern-day muscle car.
Can I do any better than this?
If you’re in the market for the very best and most collectible ZL1 Camaros, you can certainly do better than this one, despite its rare colorway.
How? Simply by looking for either a Collector Edition variant, or, and this would be my preference, a Garage 56 Special Edition model. They only made 56 units for the latter, and we’ve seen one sell for a whopping $202,000 back in February.
