CamaroNews – From time to time we check on projects that involve the Camaro. Shawn Kim from the University of Washington has provided an update with the CamaroSix EcoCAR 3 project. This project is really important as they are making a fully functional Camaro electric car, yes we said it. These students are some of the top brass in the nation which with all their team work will build a 2016 Camaro electric car. Shawn has provided us with an update, which is exciting. EcoCAR 3 is a 4 year AVTC (advanced vehicle technology competition) involving 16 chosen schools from across the US and Canada. This year, the second year of competition, GM has donated each school a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. Our job is to turn this Camaro into a fully functional hybrid vehicle. The competition itself is inter-disciplinary involving engineers, CS, business, and communications students. We hope to have the car fully functional by May when we take to the GM test track in Yuma for end of the year competition. The Camaro is currently completely gutted as we are prepping to incorporate the team’s unique architecture.
